Junior Wavus is a 10-day introductory session for girls currently in 2nd through 4th grade. Junior Wavus runs during the full 26-day sessions and is designed to give campers a taste of Wavus’ fun activities, challenging wilderness trips and unique culture.
Junior Wavus I: June 30 – July 9
Junior Wavus II: July 28 – August 6
While many 2nd – 4th graders jump right into Wavus’ full 26-day session, some may choose to attend our 10-day Junior Wavus session if just a taste of camp feels more appropriate for the camper and her family. Our entire camp community celebrates the arrival and departure of these courageous girls who may be living away from home for the first time. The Junior Wavus program has a slightly different schedule and structure than the full session camp so that our qualified counselor staff can support the girls as they become more independent and make Wavus their own.
Junior Wavus campers share a modern cabin with about a dozen other girls of the same grade and age. In addition to the many in-camp activities they will enjoy, these intrepid adventurers will spend one overnight in a tent on Hog Island just off the coast of KWE’s property in Bremen, Maine. Their explorations of Muscongus Bay on the Snowgoose III will teach them about sea creatures and the joys of Maine’s glorious coast.
